Suppress notifications and reminders

Suppress notifications and reminders

The External tag lets you pause all automated notifications for a patient. Once applied, the patient will not receive any emails or SMS — including appointment confirmations, reminders, consent form links, invoice notifications, or instructions.

The patient can still access everything through their patient account. Only the notifications are suppressed, not the underlying records.

A yellow banner is displayed on the patient's Patient 360 whenever the tag is active, so any staff member can see at a glance that the patient is not receiving communications.

Use the External tag when a patient should not receive automated communications from Adoreal — either permanently or temporarily.

Common scenarios include:

  • External patients — patients treated at your practice by an external provider.
  • Administrative changes — when making multiple changes to a patient's record, the External tag prevents the patient from receiving a flood of notifications for changes they don't need to act on

Once the tag is removed, notifications resume automatically for any future activity. Communications triggered while the tag was active are not sent retroactively.
